Educational Programs at the Hermitage
Hermitage Educational Programs for school groups are available Tuesday-Friday from October 1-May 31. Programs are generally 9:00-12:00 noon. Groups are divided into smaller groups of about 25 students in each max as necessary. All programs begin at the Hermitage Education and Conference Center. Most programs last 1.5 – 2.5 hours. Maximum group size 4 classes/approximately 100 students. The fee is $12 per person (students and adult chaperones). Siblings who are not part of a school group are not permitted to accompany their parent chaperones. We provide content in Colonial Life/Revolutionary War period, Civil War/Water Mills & Machines, & Victorian Times.
Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of your program. The Hermitage makes every effort to accommodate late groups but reserves the right to adjust or shorten programs as circumstances demand. The Hermitage may close because of snow or unsafe weather conditions. If closure is necessary, you will be contacted by a member of the Hermitage Education staff and your visit will be rescheduled. If it is raining or cold, we recommend dressing for the weather – boots, hats, raincoats, etc. Eating facilities are available when prior arrangements are made. No food is available for sale on-site, so groups must bring their own brown-bag lunches.
